our services

Space For Life treats understanding and navigating participants’ needs with a deep sense of care and responsibility. So, even though we have listed all our types of disability support services below, we are still open to discussing other ideas and approaches.

And once you begin your journey with us, this doesn’t change. Regularly communicating options and ensuring they still serve our participants is one of the many ways we take a person-centred approach to care.

AccommodatioN and housing

Our accommodation provides the spaces that nurture good living and are a bridge to independence, a pillar of inclusion, and a beacon of community.

Our team creates the nurturing space to make you feel at home and independent. They help participants develop a sense of community with those they share accommodation with, through extensive matching and compatibility assessments.

We offer Supported Individual Living (either one-on-one or shared with others), Specialist Disability Accommodation (one-on-one or shared with others), and individualised living options.

DEVELOPING
LIFE SKILLS

With this option, we focus on personal development and independence, assisting participants with learning and developing skills such as cooking, banking/budget planning, and medication management. Our team also offers advocacy, guidance, and flexible responses to difficult situations or crises.

Our staff who specialise in this area are very experienced in supporting individuals in a way that maintains and develops their skills, they use the SPACE model and focus on keeping them as independent as possible. They may work on banking, budgeting, cooking, menu planning, shopping, transport training, and support with medical appointments. This service can be provided on an ongoing basis or by referral.

SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

The support team are always guided by the participant when helping them to participate in the community and develop new relationships. We assist participants with attending meaningful activities of interest to them, and therefore fostering a sense of belonging and connection.

We don’t just live in our homes — work, hobbies, and interests take us out into the world too and we aim to support belonging in those spaces as well. So, we work on encouraging participants to develop interests and try out activities, with the staff member either staying and assisting, or introducing the participant and then leaving them to it. With this service, we can develop a plan for ongoing daytime support.

SUPPORT COORDINATION

Navigating the NDIS can be very overwhelming for participants, their representatives, and other stakeholders. It takes the assistance of a skilled and experienced support coordinator to help you to understand and implement your plan.

Our team of support coordinators help participants and their representatives with their NDIS plans by identifying and connecting them with the most suitable service providers. They help participants keep their plan on track and optimise opportunities for achieving their goals.

Assistance with daily activities

This service covers support for all parts of participants’ daily lives, a personalised combination of assistance with tasks like feeding, cleaning, grocery shopping, and showering — either in the community or in our accommodation.

Our team follow individualised care plans for every person they support. They also complete specific training to ensure they carry out this service in a comfortable and thorough manner — always considering the individual’s unique preferences and opportunities for independence.

Assistance with daily activities may include cooking, meal preparation, grocery shopping, showering, dressing, toileting, cleaning, using money, exercising, getting around, hoist transfers, wound care, feeding, and home physio programs for people with complex needs. These tasks can be carried out in the family home, in a participant’s home, in our SIL/SDA accommodation, or at another location if needed.

DOMESTIC SUPPORT

We will complete all of the domestic cleaning tasks. Rather than simply rushing to carry out these tasks, our support team assist the participants with developing their cleaning skills, encouraging participation, and aiming for an increase in domestic independence.

SUPPORTED HOLIDAYS

Individualised supported trips for small groups or one-on-one. Travel is an opportunity for independence, a creator of inclusion, and a generator of community — for everyone, not just our participants. And so, we consider it a vital experience to offer.

A coordinator will consult with the attendees and plan the trip in detail, then experienced support workers will join participants on the journey.

PLAN MANAGEMENT

Managing your budget, paying invoices, and dealing with various providers can be complex and challenging. Our plan management team offer a personalised approach and take time to listen and provide advice, but they also empower participants by providing a portal for tracking funding and invoices.

The plan management team aim to make things easier for participants by managing their budget, taking care of all the paperwork, and paying the invoices on time. Also, through their extensive experience with the NDIS, they can provide practical advice and assistance to ensure the NDIS plan works in the participant’s interest.

We have a collaborative approach to care, always looking for ways to enrich our participants’ lives and support their individual needs. So, our disability service models range from a few hours support per week, right through to 24 hours per day, seven days a week. We also support both adults and children (from the age of 10 years).

Our team are open to talking about specific personal circumstances and will consider suggestions for other models of support.

Thank you all. Over the last 30 months and six applications, your assistance helped to secure the desirable amount of funding for my son.
